India Wins in 5th International Thang-Ta Championship held in South Korea

Guwahati, September 4, 2019:

Thang-Ta Federation of India won the overall championship in 5th International Thang-Ta Championship, South Korea.

A squad of Thang-Ta Federation of India composed of 24 members both male and female from Manipur (14), Tamil Nadu (5) and J&K State (5) have participated in the 5th International Thang-Ta Championship and ‘2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Festival’ at Chungju City in Republic of Korea from August 30 to September 6, 2019.

Some of the team members have joined the squad latter due to VISA delays.

Team India won the overall championship in 5th International Thang-Ta Championship by winning 14 golds and four silver medals.

The team of India is led by Huidrom Premkumar Singh, Vice-President of Thang-Ta Federation of India.

Participants from seven counties participated the championship i.e, India, Philippines, Uzbekistan, Cambodia, South Korea, Egypt and Malaysia. Philippines and Uzbekistan won the 2nd and 3rd overall championship, respectively. Many players from India have entered for the final round of the free style Thang-Ta competition as part of “2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Festival”.
