URI: Indian Army captures one Pakistani terrorist, another killed during infiltration bid

JAMMU AND KASHMIR: In a major breakthrough, the Indian Army captured one Pakistani origin terrorist after he surrendered to the security forces and killed another in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector.

According to reports, the captured terrorist has been identified as an 18-year-old Lashkar terrorist Ali Babar Patra, a resident of Okara, Punjab in Pakistan.

Reports suggest that the Pakistani terrorist who was apprehended was part of a recent infiltration bid that took place between September 18 and 19, and he infiltrated India on September 18.

Another Pakistani guide, Qari Anaz (33) was killed by the forces on September 26 when he opened fire at the Army search team.

The forces have recovered one AK-47 rifle, two grenades, and one communication set from the captured terror operative.

Seven terrorists have been killed in the last seven days, according to the army.

"The movement of such a large group of people is impossible without the cooperation of the Pakistan army stationed on the other side. There has been activity at launch pads all along the LoC, "said Major General Virendra Vats.

Yesterday's capture was part of India's largest counter-insurgency operation along the LoC since the February ceasefire with Pakistan.

Several operations have been underway in the Uri and Rampur sectors since September 18, when the army foiled three infiltration attempts discovered while patrolling.

During an exchange of fire between the Army and militants Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC), four soldiers have sustained bullet injuries.

The Army foiled an infiltration attempt near the LOC in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district last week killed three terrorists and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
