ITANAGAR: Indian Army that has always kept its war heroes in high regard, has celebrated the war heroes, and honoured the veterans of the 1971 as part of the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh' programme at Miao Army Camp, Arunachal Pradesh today.

The government of India has been celebrating the year to commemorate the victory against Pakistan in 1971 that resulted in the formation of a new nation Bangladesh.

The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ in Miao Army Camp commemorated Bangladesh's decisive and historic victory over Pakistan, which resulted in the world's largest military surrender after World War II.

The event is part of a series of commemorative events being held across India in which war veterans and veer naris (heroic women) are honoured and events such as band displays and seminars are conducted.

The event in Miao was graced by 14 war veterans from different Indian Army units from the 1971 war, as well as veterans from the 1999 war.

Veterans praised the Indian Army for remembering their service in the past and honouring their contributions to the nation's security.

The Indian Army which believes that “the nation which forgets its defenders will be itself forgotten” has once again shown that ‘Har Kaam Desh Ke Naam’ is a living philosophy.
