The Indian Army retaliated strongly to silence the Pakistani infiltrators, and cross-border firing between the two sides continued for quite some time, they added.

This comes days after 3 Indian army soldiers, a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, and three civilians (including a woman) have been killed while three army men have been injured in multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.

“An infiltration bid was foiled in the Keran sector following which the Pakistan army resorted to ceasefire violation in multiple sectors in north Kashmir,” an official said.

In the aftermath of this incident, the Pakistan Government also reported several civilian casualties on its side of the border.

In the aftermath of the incident, India's Ministry of External Affairs said it is highly deplorable that Pakistan chose a festive occasion to disrupt peace and perpetrate violence through coordinated firing along the length of the LoC in J&K.
