An Indian Army jawan was killed in action after the Pakistan army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch Sector in Jammu and Kashmir on June 13th, 2020.

In the incident, Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries.

“Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei was a brave, highly motivated and a sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty,” an Army statement stated.

Earlier on June 11th, 2020, an Indian Army jawan was killed in action after Pakistan army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri Sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

The deceased, identified as Naik Gurcharan Singh, belonged to Harchowal village in Gurdaspur district in Punjab.

“Our troops responded strongly to the enemy fire. In the incident, Naik Gurcharan Singh was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries,” an Army statement stated.

On June 4th, 2020, an army soldier was killed in action after Pakistan army resorted to an unprovoked ceasefire violation on the LoC in Sunderbani Sector in Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

Hav Mathiazhagan P. was sustained severe injuries and rushed to the Army hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Mathiazhagan P. belonged to Sreerangai Kadu village, Tehsil Idappadi in Salem district in Tamil Nadu.

On June 3rd, 2020, three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants, including an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) expert, were killed in an operation by the security forces in Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir.

A firefight ensued after the militants opened up fire on the security forces, the army spokesperson said. In the operation, a soldier sustained injuries and was rushed to the Army hospital in Srinagar. Internet services were suspended in the region as a precautionary measure.

On May 28th, 2020, the security forces including intelligence, army, police averted a major Pulwama-like terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir. The incident took place at Ayengund area of Rajpora, Pulwama after forces neutralised an IED recovered from a car.
