Guwahati, August 24, 2019:

Indian national football player Halicharan Narzary, who hails from Assam, expressed his urge to help the northeastern state, which had been ravaged by torrential rainfall and subsequent floods in recent times.

Recently, the star midfielder told Sportstar that he wants to make Assam smile again. Assam "has suffered a lot from the recent floods. But it’s time to make it (Assam) smile again", he said.

The midfielder, who in was in Chennai for his rehab program during the spate of floods in Assam, said that could feel the pain of Assam every moment. He told Sportstar that he did not dare to switch on the television set as the 'agony' and 'torment' was too much for him to bear.

It is to be mentioned Halicharan Narzary is preparing for India's World Cup qualifiers against Oman and Asian champions Qatar. India plays Oman on September 5 in Guwahati, followed by Qatar in Doha on September 10.

It is to be mentioned he had made his national team debut in Guwahati in 2015 during the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 play-off qualifiers against Nepal.
