Indian Rupee Slips Further by 28 paise to 71.88 against US dollar

New Delhi, September 17, 2019:

The Indian rupee slipped by 28 paise to 71.88 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday.

The fall in Indian currency has been reported after the drone attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities that increased the demand for the US dollar.

The dollar index, which measures the strength against six currencies had risen by 0.01 per cent to 98.61.

The Indian rupee on Monday had slipped by 68 paise to 71.60 against the US dollar and it further slipped to 28 paise on early Tuesday.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange, the rupee opened at 71.83 and then fell to 71.88 against the US dollar.

Domestic bourses opened on a negative note on Tuesday with benchmark indices Sensex trading at 137.87 points down at 36,985.44 and Nifty lower by 38.85 points at 10,964.65.
