New Delhi, December 3, 2019:

A young Sikh woman from India posed as a pilgrim to meet her Pakistani boyfriend at the Kartarpur corridor, however, the attempt failed due to the alertness of Pakistani guards.

The woman has been identified as Manjeet Kaur who met her boyfriend on the first floor of the Kartarpur site on November 23. Her boyfriend, hailing from the city of Faisalabad, came to the gurdwara along with a couple of friends, including a woman, to meet Manjeet.

Reportedly, Manjeet hailing from the state of Haryana entered Pakistan as a Sikh pilgrim in order to meet her Pakistani boyfriend at the Darbar Sahib Gurdwara.

After meeting with her boyfriend, Manjeet decided to stay on in Pakistan. She was given the visitor’s card by the Pakistani woman who had accompanied her boyfriend.

The Indian woman chucked her Indian pilgrim’s card into a dustbin, said reports.

The Pakistani authorities foiled the plan and confronted the couple before she could escape into the country.

Following this, the security around the Darbar Sahib Gurdwara was tightened. Initiatives have been taken for bio-metric verification on entry and exiting the holy place.
