IRS Officers 'Help' Arunachali Students Stranded in Manipur amid Lockdown

Imphal, April 17, 2020:

Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers from the state of Manipur have come forward to help Arunachali students stuck in in the state in a bid to ease the burdens on their young shoulders.

A team comprising IRS officers C. Deepak Singh, N. Kheda Varta Singh, Haridas Rajkumar, and Upendra Nahakpam, among others took part in a charitable initiative as they provided essential items to the students, helping them stock up on items such as onions, potatoes, dal, rice, etc.

The good samaritan IRS officers also caught the attention of the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu who lauded them for their act of benevolence. "Thanks to entire team of Manipur IRS Association officers for helping Arunachali students stranded in Manipur due to the Covid_19 lockdown. C. Deepak Singh IRS N. Kheda Varta Singh IRS Haridas Rajkumar IRS Upendra Nahakpam IRS L. Ramcharan Singh ITO S. Sachidananda Singh ITO", Khandu wrote.

At the same time, in a positive development for the state, the lone COVID-19 patient in Arunachal Pradesh has tested negative for the second time after his swab sample was sent to Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) at Dibrugarh in Assam within 24 hours on Wednesday, making the state free from any coronavirus case.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a tweet stated that “the first positive #COVID 19 case of Arunachal Pradesh has tested negative (twice) after conducting 3rd and 4th test consecutively. The number of positive case in state is now zero.”

Meanwhile, Assam has reported nine recoveries from the virus, while in Manipur, one patient (the first case in NE) has made a full recovery.
