GUWAHATI: Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi reached Shrimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra on Wednesday to pay tribute to the Former CM and Veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi who passed away Monday evening. Gandhi also paid a visit to the bereaved family at their government residence during his two-hour visit to the city.

Paying tribute to the former CM, Gandhi said, “It was an irreparable loss to Assam and India. He was my teacher, my guru. He explained me about Assam, the people and the beauty of the state like nobody can. He always treated me like his own son. This is a personal loss for me.”

Gandhi further added. “Whenever I visited Assam, we used to sit and talk for hours. He never used to talk about himself but only about Assam and its people. I always felt like I was taking to Assam and not him. He always treated everyone equally, for him everyone was same. What he did for Assam can’t be done by anyone else”

Gandhi also said that he got to learn a lot from the former CM.

While talking about his first visit to Assam, Rahul Gandhi said, “When I first visited Assam, Gogoi Ji taught me everything about Assam within just 5 to 10 minutes and made me realize that even if I try my whole life, I wouldn’t be able to understand the state the way he explained and told me.”

Rahul Gandhi further added that Gogoi has taught a lot to the Assam Congress and ensured that it will always stand with his principle.

Gandhi also expressed grief over the sad demise of Ahmed Patel adding that both leaders death is a great loss to the nation

3-time former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi’s mortal remains reached the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati’s Panjabari area on Tuesday, where thousands upon thousands of admirers reached to pay their last tributes to the popular leader.

According to reports, the last rites of 3 time former CM Tarun Gogoi will be held at the Navagraha Crematorium in Guwahati.
