GUWAHATI: Inside Northeast, your favourite news platform, is coming up with a novel idea to give voice to the voiceless ahead of the Assembly elections in Assam, which will see the ruling alliance led by the BJP attempt to see off the challenge posed by the Congress and new regional players in the state.
“Every political leader has a stage to express his/her views. From these platforms, they are able to reach the public to make pre-election promises. To ensure that the common person also has a platform to express his/her opinions, we have come up with the concept of a Janata Express. We hope reach all corners of Assam — from Brahmaputra to Barak,” said Afrida Hussain, Editor-in-chief of Inside Northeast. “With this, we will be able to gauge public opinion ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections in Assam. We hope to take the Inside Northeast Express to all the Constituencies in the state.”
Hussain further informed that the Inside Northeast ‘Janata Express’ will make its first stop at Hajo, 24 km from the city of Guwahati in the Kamrup district of Assam.
“Since Hajo is a historic site, we will begin the first leg of our tour from there, with a focus on talking to the people about their problems and issues; we will ask them whether their hopes and aspirations have been fulfilled by the current administration or not. We will bring their thoughts and opinions to the public — unfiltered and unedited.”
Mithu Bharali, the director of the media organization, expressed her elation at the launching of this new initiative. “Actually, this is the beginning of our journey and launching this long-cherished project has made us extremely happy.”
Managing Editor, Imtiaz Ahmed, believes that this initiative will give an “opportunity” to the people to express their views and opinions. “We hope they will grab this opportunity with both hands.”
