New Delhi, July 17, 2019:

After self-proclaimed 'chowkidar' (security guard) Narendra Modi won the Prime Ministerial throne, another 'chowkidar' is making waves. This second chowkidar, though, is excelling in a completely unexpected field: education.

34-year-old Ramjal Meena first entered the payroll of the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as a security guard in 2014, but he probably had no clue that he would one day be joining as a student! Last week, the 34-year-old first-generation learner from Rajasthan’s Karauli cracked the highly-competitive JNU entrance examination. His subject? BA in Russian (Hons)!

Last year, Meena graduated in Political Science, History and Hindi through distance learning from Rajasthan University, but this year he had his eyes set on something even better!

Meena, while speaking to media persons said that he could not complete his education as the nearest school was 28-30 kms away from his village.

The 'chowkidar' was evidently inspired to join JNU as a student due to the environment there. But it was not easy, as the father of three could only study after his shift was over.

The ambitious 'chowkidar' has also disclosed that the reason he chose Russian as his subject is because he harbors hopes of seeing distant lands. Not only this, he also plans to study further to crack the civil service exams, which are the hopes and dreams of many!

Meena says that he cannot give up his job, and thus, he will ask for night shifts so that he can juggle his duty and his education.
