Jawans in Frozen Siachen Struggle with Food, Video Goes Viral

Siachen Siachen

Guwahati, June 9, 2019:

Perhaps some of you have seen a video which has gone wildly viral on social media platforms. In this video, three army jawans posted at Siachen are seen making light of the frozen condition of food they are getting at Siachen at the height of approximately 17,000-18,000 feet, where average temperatures are minus 40 degrees Celsius and can get as low as minus 70 degrees Celsius.

In the video that has gone viral, the soldiers posted in Siachen demonstrate how hard it is for them to cook or consume food in the extremely cold weather conditions as consumables turn rock-solid due to the severity of the cold in the region.

Their merriment in recording the video is evident. In the end they also greet you with their regimental salutation of “Tagra Raho” (the Assam Regiment salutation).

This josh and camaraderie of the Indian Army is difficult to fathom by people who are not risking their lives at every single moment to keep their countrymen safe.

While comparisons are most of the times best avoided, you cannot help but compare this video with the one uploaded by the dismissed Constable Tej Bahadur Yadav of BSF, who was seen lamenting the quality of dal he was served.

When you enjoy your food and drink today, remember how soldiers in different parts of the border 'enjoy their meals'.
