Guwahati, September 30, 2019:

Former Assam Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi on Monday turned down heavily on the Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh (RSS), Chief Mohan Bhagwat saying that he has been doing politics based on the divide and rule policy. Also, he alleged Jinnah and RSS to be responsible for the partition of India- Pakistan.

Addressing the media, Tarun Gogoi said, “Mohan Bhagwat has created a rift among the people of Assam by seeking the protection of Hindus to Prime Minister Modi. We will not accept the ideology of Jinnah and Mohan Bhagawat.”

“Congress was not responsible for the partition of India and Pakistan. It was Jinnah and RSS are the ones responsible,” he added.

Demanding a proper Review Committee for the correction of discrepancies in the National Register of Citizens (NRC), Gogoi added, “It took such a long time to draft the final NRC on the basis of 1971, leave aside the 1951 deadline.”

The former CM also added that Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev claimed that Muslim officials engaged in the NRC process have cut out the names of Hindu people from the NRC. “He should be punished and the list of the names of officials should be issued,” he added.
