WASHINGTON: US President Joe Biden announced from the White House Treaty Room yesterday that he will withdraw remaining US troops from Afghanistan by September 11 this year as he cannot afford the death of American forces in the nation's longest war.
"It is time to end America's longest war. It is time for American troops to come home from Afghanistan." said Joe Biden.
A total of 2500 American forces will be withdrawn by September 11, marking the anniversary of the terror attacks of 20 years ago, that was coordinated from Afghanistan.
Joe Biden further added: "We cannot continue the cycle of extending our military presence in Afghanistan hoping to create the ideal conditions for our withdrawal, expecting a different result."

The withdrawal of the US troops would begin from May 1, a deadline set by the Donald Trump administration for full withdrawal under a peace agreement with the Taliban last year.
Joe Biden stated emphatically that his administration would continue to back peace talks with the Afghan government and the Taliban and also to assist international efforts to train the Afghan military.
Withdrawal of US troops comes with bigger consequences as it'd encourage the Taliban to claw its dominance back.
