Guwahati, November 1, 2019:

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), along with members of Karbi Students’ Organisations, demands that a separate TET examination be conducted for appointment of teachers in Karbi-medium schools.

KAAC and the students’ unions have stated the requirement of a separate TET under its jurisdiction in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) submitted to the Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya. This, as reported, is aimed to meet the teachers’ gap as per RTE 2009 in the elementary level and shortage of teachers at the secondary level.

KAAC, in the MoU, also stated that a Special TET Examination for Scheduled Tribe (Hill) candidates be conducted to fill all the backlogs posts in Assam.
