Kerala Mosque Hosts Hindu Wedding amid Nationwide CAA Unrest

Guwahati, January 19, 2020:

A mosque in Kerala hosted a Hindu wedding and set an example amid tensions rising out of the amended Citizenship Act or the CAA.

Cheravally Muslim Jamath mosque of Kerala organised the wedding of Anju and Sarath in the traditional Hindu way. The mosque committee has gifted the newly-wed couple 10 sovereigns of gold and Rs two lakh to the bride, Anju as a wedding gift.

Secretary of the Cheruvally Jamaat committee Nujumudeen Alummoottil said that he suggested the idea of organizing the Hindu wedding at the mosque premises as the bride’s family was facing financial difficulties.

The Jamaath committee came in support of the family instantly. While one of the members offered to bear the wedding expenses, the others joined in to make the wedding ceremony happen in the traditional way and the two tied the knot at a crowded mosque.

It may be mentioned here that the wedding has come at a time when communal tensions are at its peak and majority of the people in India are trying to convince the government to repeal the CAA.
