Kerala mother kills 6-year-old son to ‘please God’

PULAKKAD: In a rather bizarre incident, a 30-year-old mother allegedly killed her six-year-old son by slitting his throat with a knife to please God, and after committing the crime, she called up police and revealed that she had killed her third son Aamil.

The incident took place during the wee hours of Sunday at Puthupalli Therivu,in Pulakkad district of Kerala on Sunday.

 

Police have arrested the accused, Shaeeda who is a Madrasa teacher and three-month pregnant with her fourth child.

 

She has been booked under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (For (murder) following the FIR, which says that she had murdered her child as a sacrifice to God.

The FIR says that the 30-year-old mother has admitted to having sacrificed her third son "to win the favour of God."

 

According to police, Amil’s legs were tied up when he was sleeping and was taken to the bathroom where he was murdered.

 

Her husband Sulaiman, who is a taxi driver was sleeping with their other two sons in another room unware of the cold-blooded murder.

They came to know about the incident after police reached their house following the phone call of Shaeeda.

 

However, police termed it as a pre-planned murder. While the neighbours said that she had no history of mental problems and any other health issues.

 

The body of the child has been sent to the Palakkad district hospital mortuary for postmortem, said R. Viswanath, Superintendent of Police (Palakkad).
