Kerala Youth Detected with Country’s First Coronavirus Case

Guwahati, January 30, 2020:

The Health Ministry informed that one positive case of Coronavirus has been reported in Kerala. It is of a youth pursuing his studies in Wuhan University, China.

An official of the Ministry said that the patient is stable and is being monitored closely. The patient is currently being kept in isolation to prevent the spread of the disease.

The Health Ministry has prescribed an isolation period of fourteen days for ones who had travelled and returned from China in the past fifteen days. It issued a notification stating that those with travel history to China in the past fifteen days should sleep in a separate room, limit contact with family members and avoid visitors and with anyone with flu-like symptoms.

It needs mention here that thousands have been undergoing treatment following the outbreak of Coronavirus. China has imposed travel restrictions and wearing masks in public has been made compulsory to control further infection. However, the death toll has been on the rise, with the latest figures reaching 170.
