Addressing the media, Akhil Gogoi said, “Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment, Ratan Lal Katari on Monday announced at the Lok Sabha session that flood will not be considered as a national issue. The Central Government has disagreed to declare flood in Assam as a national issue. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal says that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gives more importance to Assam, whereas Modi and the current government are blackmailing the people of the state, which was proved yesterday. Coal, petroleum and others are among the core resources of the state.”

KMSS demands that the flood in Assam should be declared as a national issue and in demand of that they are going to burn the effigy of PM Modi tomorrow.

Pointing out at the vision document published by the BJP, Gogoi read out, “Grazing the bed of Brahmaputra bed from Sadiya to Dhubri, the problem of siltation will be identified and addressed at the root.” This he related to the flood situation and mentioned that this was the biggest dream that the BJP showed to the people of Assam. He recalled that the BJP had promised to construct express highways by the banks of the Brahmaputra River.

Whereas, the Water Resource Minister has made it clear that grazing of Brahmaputra bed is impossible. This has proved the vision document of BJP is a “big lie”.

The KMSS has resolved to not spare the BJP until and unless they build express highways and graze the river bed to find a solution to the problem they promised.

To protest against such move of the center, KMSS has launched a state-wide effigy burning programme of PM Narendra Modi.

Moreover, he spoke on the allotment of the ST status to the six agitating communities of Assam. He said, “Union minister of tribal affairs, Arjun Munda on Monday said the issue will be discussed by the modality committee. But the ST Commission has already given the recommendation for the allotment.”
