Kokrajhar: Serial blast completes 12 years, Victims cry for compensations

Kokrajhar: A floral tribute and candle lighting programme was organised on Friday evening in Kokrajhar town by the citizens.

The serial Blast had claimed many lives and left injuries in the state including Kokrajhar.

In the floral tribute programme at Kokrajhar main bazar, Assam Social welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma also lighted candles and offered floral tribute to the persons who lost their lives in the serial blast.

A one minute silent condolence was also observed on the occasion to mark the day.

She emphasized to build a united and integrated society and said that human society must come forward for bringing healthy environment across the state.

In Kokrajhar town, 20 persons lost lives and left over 60 injuries in the three serial blasts on October 30, 2008.

The first bomb blast occurred at Kokrajhar main vegetable market at around 10.45 am which was planted on a bi-cycle,

All the Victim family members and injured persons are still to get full compensations across the state as the state and centre governments have failed to fulfill their promises.

Victims have expressed their resentment on the shocked day of serial blasts today as they are yet to get full ex-gratia compensations that promised from state and centre governments after the blasts.

Many of injury victims in Kokrajhar town blasts,said that they have not received proper financial supports from the government and have been facing severe hardships in their living management.

Notably, the serial blasts October 30 struck four districts of Assam,apart from Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Barpeta and Guwahati city that left many killed and injuries.
