The Beel is one of the landmarks of Guwahati city as it attracts a large number of tourists and nature lovers every year. The wetland is known for being home to many species of flora and fauna and is a popular attraction for photographers.

But there is a grim side to the tale of the ‘beel’. Tons of waste has accumulated in the Deepor Beel and it is being used as a dumping ground by many organizations. As such, the Beel has lost much of its beauty and appeal as a tourist hotspot.

Objective of the Campaign: The dumping ground near the Beel has been the reason for the death of many migratory birds which tend to feed on the rotting items found in the dumps.

Therefore, this has inspired Inside Northeast to take up a step forward to save the beel from the current threat and thus, a campaign called “#LetsSaveDeeporbeel” has been started to make it garbage free and save the biodiversity from degrading any further.

Please Support the campaign and help us create mass awareness.
