CSK captain MS Dhoni is all set to create history by becoming the most-capped player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With 193 IPL caps, Dhoni currently shares the top spot with his former CSK deputy, Suresh Raina. The moment he will come out for the toss ceremony against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Dhoni will become the sole owner of the record.

Interestingly, both Raina and Dhoni have been part of CSK together for a decade. Both the players had joined CSK in 2008. Dhoni, CSK’s costliest pick in IPL 2008 auction, has led the Yellow Army in every IPL game he has played for the franchise. Under him, they have won 100 out of 163 matches.

Dhoni returned to CSK after the end of two-year ban period and led them to third title victory. CSK have an impressive run under M.S as they have always made it to IPL Playoffs. They have played eight finals and have clinched the title thrice.

Apart from becoming the most-capped player in IPL, Dhoni is also expected to own the record of being the first player to partake in 200 IPL matches. Raina could have achieved the milestone before Dhoni but he isn’t part of IPL 2020.

The former India captain has scored 4476 runs in 193 matches at an average of 42.22. One of the four batsmen with over 200 big hits, Mahendra Singh has struck 212 IPL sixes. Dhoni has a strike-rate of 137.89 and has scored 23 half-centuries in the league. He has effected 39 stumps and has pouched 102 catches.

The Dhoni-led side is currently placed at the last spot on the points table as it has only won a single game so far. The Yellow Army would hope to bounce back strongly soon.
