The troops of Indian Army in a solemn ceremony bid the final farewell to Late Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei as he was laid to rest with full military honours at Leimakhong in Imphal West District of Manipur on Jun 15. The brave soldier made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty along LOC in Poonch Sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Jun 13. Earlier in the day, the mortal remains of Late Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei were flown in from Delhi to Imphal in an aircraft. Before being taken to Leimakhong, serving troops paid their respects to the martyr in a hallowed wreath-laying ceremony at Tulihal Airport.

At 1740hrs on June 15,  the cortege of the martyred soldier was paid last respects by the local military commanders from Army as the buglers sounded the Last Post. The Indian Tricolour was handed over to Mrs Elizabeth, the wife of late Sepoy Lungambui Abonmei in presence of a host of relatives, friends and veterans of Leimakhong in Manipur.

Meanwhile

The India-China border tensions have always been a matter of contingency for both countries. However, in recent months this has intensified in Sikkim and especially in Ladakh. As such upsetting reports have come out from Galwan Valley.

As per the official statement, 2 soldiers and 1 officer have lost their lives during the de-escalation process in Galwan Valley. This has created a huge uproar among the concern citizens amid talks of Chinese aggression.

To take stock of the concerns, senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation in Galwan Valley.

As per reports, the officer was an Indian army colonel. As per a few sources, there might be casualties on both sides. No records of bullets fired as the clash was with stones and clubs which injured several. Further details are awaited.
