Manipur: Assam Rifles recovers huge cache of arms, ammunition

The troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition near Langthabal in Imphal West District of Manipur on July 7^th, 2020.

The Assam Rifles has recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Karongthel Khunou in Manipur on June 10th, 2020.

According to reports, three columns of 26 Assam Rifles led by its commandant rushed to the general area of Karongthel Khunou after receiving credible information about hiding arms and ammunition in the said area. The AR team was assisted by ASI Deepak Konthoujam,  Machi police station.

The team conducted thorough search in suspected places since 0500 hours. The team found a suspected package under a tree in a cavement made along the foothill.

One SLR (762 mm Cal), one SLR Mag with 10 x rds, one 303 Bolt Action Rifle, and one 303 Bolt Action Rifle Mag were recovered from there.

On further search the team recover another package around 1015 hours which was hidden in similar manner with the first package.

On May 27th, 2020, the troops of the Indian Army in a joint operation with Arunachal Pradesh Police recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from Miao Bum Reserve Forest in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh.

Based on a specific intelligence input regarding the presence of armed cadres of the Isac-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) cadres, the joint team launched an operation in the forested area. During the search operation conducted in inclement weather and inhospitable terrain, the team successfully recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition and other warlike stores.
