MANIPUR: ASSAM RIFLES SEIZES PRECIOUS STONES

11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended one smuggler, resident of Senapati District, Manipur.

From a specific information received from reliable sources by 11 Assam Rifles regarding move of banned contraband items in a Maruti Eco Van heading from Moreh to Imphal. They started a search operation where a Mobile Vehicle Check Post was activated near KLP location, Moreh for checking of the vehicle. The vehicle reached the Check Post at around 9:40 pm on 24^th May where the team of 11 Assam Rifles stopped the vehicle. On checking the vehicle, 103 Blue Sapphire stones (approximately 75 grams) and 148 Yellow Sapphire stones (approximately 275 grams) were found concealed in the vehicle. The individual and recovered items were handed over to customs preventive force, Moreh.
