Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed the Assembly on Monday that the recent eviction drive at Nongmaiching Reserve Forest was carried out in larger interest of the future of the state.

He also informed the House that the state government would consider extending all possible help to families affected by the eviction drive and also those who were affected by the dredging of Nambul and Imphal rivers. The government will think about providing assistance on humanitarian ground by taking reference from the previous government’s action on such cases.

Forest and Environment Minister, Th.
