IMPHAL: The Manipur government inaugurated the Tamenglong water supply project today with an aim to provide safe drinking water to every household in the Tamenglong district.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland N. Biren Singh on Friday took to his Twitter handle to inform that the state government successfully inaugurated one of the most ambitious scheme taken by the government under ‘Go to Hills’ Mission. The aim of the project is to provide safe and clean drinking water to every household in the district, Singh further added.

“Tamenglong water supply project is inaugurated today. One of the most ambitious schemes taken up by the State Govt. under #GotoHills Mission with an aim to provide safe drinking water to every household in Tamenglong District, thanks to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji. #HarGharJal”

The CM also informed that the state government inaugurated 14 developmental project and laid foundation for 8 projects under the ‘Go to Hills’ mission.

He wrote, “Go to Hills Mission of the State Government at Tamenglong Dist. Inaugurated 14 developmental projects and laid foundation stones for 8 projects. Distributing wheelchairs, health cards, and other benefits to the people of the Dist. Honoured by the warm welcome of a enormous crowd.”

Earlier, Singh said that the Manipur Government’s ‘Go to Village’ mission will cover all the rural and urban localities of the State.

The Manipur CM said that the mission was introduced with the sole objective of bringing the benefits of different schemes at the doorsteps of the common people and also to address to their grievances at their own localities.

Stating that people would no more face the inconvenience of visiting different Government offices for enrolment of different schemes or registering their grievances, the chief minister said that officials of different Government Departments would come on their own to different localities across the State to listen/find out people’s woes.

Biren also said that those deserving people whose names had been left out in Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) database, and who do not have BPL/AAY cards may also seek benefits under different social security schemes by simply submitting an application to DCs or SDOs concerned.

N Biren said that people especially youths should not waste such opportunities but draw maximum benefits from these schemes.

Exhorting the youths to stay away from drugs and other intoxicants, the chief minister also mentioned that Agar and lemongrass plantation is a profitable occupation which they may take up with the assistance from the Government.
