MANIPUR: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today held a review meeting with senior government officials and medical experts to assess the COVID-19 situation in the state.

CM Biren Singh stated that the state has already vaccinated 50% of those who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination and that the remaining people will be vaccinated at the earliest.

COVID-19 cases in the state hit a daily high of 1,326 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total active caseload to 10, 347 with a positive rate of 19.4 per cent.

This is the sixth time in the last eight days that the state has seen positive cases in the thousands, with the previous high being 1,171 on July 17.

The recovery rate now stands at 86.63 percent, with 76, 279 persons recovering from the disease out of a total of 88, 050 cases.

The state currently has 10347 active cases of infection.

The death toll in the state due to the virus stands at 1424.
