IMPHAL: The Congress Party has finally swung into action mode after maintaining a low profile the past couple of years. With the launch of its first official campaign, Sarkar Taribra (Is the Govt. Listening?), the Party has directly taken on the CM Da Haisi (Let’s talk to the CM) initiative, centered around CM Biren Singh.

Congress alleged that it is obvious that CM Da Haisi is a PR tactic for the CM and that there is no transparency on how and if the issues of the people are being redressed, much like the lack of accountability around other CM-centric schemes. AICC Incharge Bhaktacharan Das, who launched the campaign along with the MPCC President Loken Singh, argued that as the largest Opposition party in the state, the INC has the right to demand transparency and accountability from the CM.

Hence, Sarkar Taribra has been launched to find out if the Govt. has indeed been listening to problems shared with the CM and what has been done to resolve them.

This interactive campaign, designed to generate active engagement of the Congress Party with the grassroot voters, will be carried out by a helpline number where people can forward the grievance lodged in the CM helpline to this helpline as well and INC volunteers and members will track the resolution of these grievances and follow up on behalf of the citizen. The digital media marketing of this campaign has also grabbed the attention of the youth especially.

While the BJP had activated its PR mechanism months ago and have been launching multiple schemes to reach out to the voters, there was very little activity in the Congress camp. The launch of this campaign appears to signal the entry of the Congress Party finally into the campaign fray for elections due in a few months. The campaign has already generated a huge public response in the last few days since the launch and the Party has announced that it will soon take the campaign on-ground so as to reach out to every block and village.
