Manipur extends curfew in 7 districts due to surge in COVID cases

IMPHAL: The Government of Manipur has extended curfew in its seven districts in view of the daily surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state.

The curfew extended in the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Churachandpur, and Ukhrul till June 11 this year.

"The number of infections of the Covid-19 virus detected every day continues to be very high relative to the population and its a source of concern," stated in the released notification.

During the period one out of three grocery shops of the total shops in one location will be allowed to open on a rotational basis from 7 am to 10 am on May 30 and June 2, 5 & 8.

All secretariat and directorate offices can start functioning with 15 per cent attendance from June 1.

During the period, movement related to health and medical purposes are allowed including vaccination and COVID testing.

Opening of Petrol pumps and LPG outlets and movement of staff of IOCL will continue to be permitted.

Imphal airport to remain open as well.

Home delivery services of various goods are allowed as well.

Life Insurance Corporation offices with limited staff will be allowed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 2.30 pm to dispose of time-bound work.

Rice mills are also allowed to operate subject to taking adequate precaution COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.

Departments like media, power, fire service, PHED, CAFPD, home, health, relief & DM, forests, environment & climate Change, finance and treasuries and police and district administration will continue to function as before.
