Imphal, September 4, 2019:

Manipur Government has decided to declare every working Saturday as ‘No School Bag Day’ in order to engage school students in life skill activities.

In a statement, the Government of Manipur cited heavy school bags as the cause of a lot of inconveniences, health problems and discomfort among school students.

It stated that young students from Classes I to VIII were found to be engaged with routine works relating to school curriculum and assignments, thereby finding it difficult to make time for life skill activities such as games and extra co-curricular activities.

‘No School Bag Day’ aims to focus on making schools a joyful place of learning and reducing excessive stress among students.

School students of the mentioned classes will not have to carry any school bag and schools will have to ensure that proper life skill activities take place in schools.
