Manipur journalist and activist arrested under NSA for saying cow dung and urine will not cure COVID-19

IMPHAL: Manipur police have booked a journalist and an activist under National Security Act (NSA) for a Facebook post where they have commented on deceased Bharatiya Janata Party leader and said cow dung and urine will not cure COVID-19.

BJP state president S Tikendra Singh succumbed to COVID-19 last week and local journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem and activist Erendro Leichombam had posted on Facebook condoling Singh's death that cow dung nad cow urine can not cure COVID-19.

BJP state vice president Usham Deban and general secretary P Premananda Meetei had filed an FIR on both the journalist and activist and Manipur police had arrested the two on Thursday under the NSA.

Section Section 153-A and 505(b)(2) of IPC and also 295-A, 503, 504 and 34 of IPC have been imposed on both.

Wangkhem was arrested in the year 2018 as well under the same act for his another controversial post on Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was out of jail in 2019.
