Manipur: Meet on National Deworming Day held

The district level coordination committee meeting for the second round of National Deworming Day was held on Monday.

Organised by the District Health Society, Bishnupur, the meeting resolved that Labour and Social Welfare departments and Childline should form a child labour task force in the district in accordance with any existing guideline, conduct a consultative meet on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Juvenile Justice Act and Right To Education Act with the headmasters of schools, other institutions, etc. after due discussion with the zonal educational officer and recognize the need for establishing care and rehabilitation of children with drugs and substance abuse.

The meeting also resolved to start a drug and substance abuse awareness campaign in the district and establish village level child protection committee in each and every gram panchayat. The National Deworming Day will be launched for the district on August 9 and observed on August 10 and 17.
