IMPHAL: Acting on specific information, joint police teams of District Police led by Jogeshchandra Haobijam IPS, Superintendent of Police today conducted a search operation at Manipur’s Keirao Wangkhem area. The team recovered bundles of 1000 rupees fake Indian Currency notes which is not in circulation in India. Two person have been arrested in the connection.

During the seach operation, a locked hut which is situated at Keirao Khuman Lok suspected to be hiding some bundles of some fake Indian Currency Notes inside the hut.

Therefore, the owner of the hut Chungkham Dewan Singh (50yrs.), Ngarian Chingkhong Leikai was identified.

On questioning, he disclosed that some manufactured fake Indian Currency Notes of Rs. 1,000/- were hidden inside his hut and he produced the fake Indian Currency Notes by opening the lock of the hut.

He further disclosed that the packing and binding of fake Indian Currency Notes were done along with one Chingakham Surchandra Singh (40yrs.), Ngarian Chingkhong Leikai, Imphal East District.

Further, they disclosed that the fake Indian Currency Notes were brought by one Thingram Tony of Keirao along with his nephew Anun of Waithou Thiyam Khunjao and handed over to them.

The arrested persons along with seized items are being handed over to O.C Irilbung P.S.

Further investigation underway.
