Massive fire breaks out in Manipur’s Shirui Peak

IMHPAL: A massive fire broke out at Shirui Peak in Manipur’s Ukhrul district in the wee hours of the morning today.

Chief minister N Biren Singh said he has spoken to the government of India as well as additional secretary of union home minister Amit Shah to extend all possible assistance from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to douse the fire.

“Very unfortunate to see the fire spreading at Shirui Peak, Ukhrul District, Manipur. Spoken to Addl. Secretary,@HMOIndiaGoI, to extend all possible help from @NDRFHQto douse the fire,” he wrote on Twitter.

He further said an official letter has also been sent from the CS and the state government.
“An official letter has also been sent from the CS, GoM. Why are we so selfish & destructive?” he added.

NDRF is a multi-disciplinary, high-tech specialist force with 12 battalions trained to respond to disasters.
