SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma found himself surrounded by trolls for condoling the death of Fr. Stan Swamy on Monday. 

Taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister wrote 'Rest in peace Fr Stan; along with a picture of Swamy. However, soon his tweet was showered with trolls condemning Sangma for his act.

One user wrote, " Mr Sangma, is it appropriate for a CM of a state to condole the death of a person accused of waging war against the state?"

Another user said, "CM is condoling the death of an accused naxal. Beauty of a democracy"

One more user even went on to say that he is seeing a Chief Minister condone death of a terrorist for the first ever time.

"Indian supporting a naxal because Jesus before nation. Please book a one way ticket to Vatican for this man. He needs Jesus more than we need him", said another user.

Swamy, a tribal rights activist who was arrested in connection with Elgar-Parishad links case, breathed his last on Monday awaiting bail. The NIA court arrested Swamy in October last year and charged under for various IPC sections and terror related offences.

Eighty four,  at the time of his death Swamy was suffering from Parkinson's disease and was even under ventilation on July 4.

As his health deteriorated, earlier his lawyers approached the Bombay High Court for an urgent hearing of his medical bail plea. However, NIA had filed an affidavit before the HC opposing the plea due to lack of 'conclusive proof' of his medical ailments.
