Meghalaya: CM Sangma unveils statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in Shillong

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday unveiled the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Jail Road in Shillong on the 125th birth anniversary of the great leader.

Sangma informed that Jail Road in Shillong is one of the locations where Netaji visited during his visit to the city in the year 1928.

 “Unveiled the statue of Netaji #SubhasChandraBose at Jail Road, Shillong, one of the locations where Netaji visited during his visit to Shillong in 1938. I urge on every citizen to take inspiration from Netaji and dedicate themselves to the service of our great nation,” Sangma tweeted.

Earlier today, the CM paid floral tribute to Netaji at State Central Library in Shillong.

Meanwhile, the Central Government has decided to celebrate the birthday of Netaji on 23rd January every year as "PARAKRAM DIWAS" to inspire people of the country, mainly youth, to act with courage within the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotism.
