SHILLONG:  The newly elected MLAs of Meghalaya constituencies were inducted into the state Legislative Assembly on Friday.

The three new members are Mawryngkneng MLA Pyniaid Syiem (NPP), Mawphlang MLA Eugeneson Lyngdoh (UDP) and Rajabala MLA Abdus Saleh (NPP)

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma felicitated two newly sworn in MLAs of NPP Pyniaid Sing Syiem and Abdus Saleh on the occasion.

"Felicitated Sh. Pyniaid Sing Syiem & Sh. Abdus Saleh our two newly sworn-in MLAs of Mawryngkneng and Rajabala constituencies. I wish them good luck in their leadership roles. May they serve the people with dedication under NPP!", tweeted the Chief Minister.

The NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance on Tuesday clinched all three assembly seats where by polls were held on October 30.

The National Peoples Party sealed Rajabala and Mawryngkneng seats from the Congress, while the United Democratic Party, a partner in the MDA government, emerged won in Mawphlang. NPPs nominee in Rajabala, Md. Abdus Saleh, defeated his nearest Congress rival Hashina Yasmin Mondal by a margin of 1,926 votes.

Pyniaid Sing Syiem of the NPP managed to gather Mawryngkneng seat, defeating Congress’ Highlander Kharmalki by a margin of 1,816 votes.

Syiem got 14,177 votes, while Kharmalki secured 12,361
