Meghalaya police alerts against 'fraudulent' travel website; details here

SHILLONG: The CID department of Meghalaya police has informed the public that https:/www.travolook.in/, a website claiming to be a travel company based in New Delhi, is suspected to be a fraud.

Issuing a release, the Meghalaya CID stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, has informed that the website operating from Delhi is a "suspected fraud website which claims to be an online travel company and luring people who intend to book online tickets for travels."

According to the release, more than 100 complaints have been reported against this website in open source forums.

In its release, the Meghalaya police has urged the Meghalaya police to report the matter immediately to the government through the website www.cybercrime.gov.in

"It is therefore strongly advised to be aware and careful and not to use this website to book tickets for travels as many people have complained against this website as a fraud website which is cheating ordinary people. If you are a victim of this site, you should report the matter immediately in the website www.cybercrime.gov.in," read the communique.

Although Meghalaya has lifted some of the lockdown restrictions, the state's lucrative tourism sector will have to wait till the COVID-19 positivity rate drops below 5%, said Meghalaya Chief Secretary MS Rao.
