Meghalaya ranks second in State Food Safety Index followed by Manipur

SHILLONG: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya has released the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India's (FSSAI)3rd State Food Safety Index (SFSI) to measure the performance of States across five parameters of food safety.

Two northeastern states Meghalaya and Manipur ranked second and third respectively in SFSI smaller states category. Goa topped in this category.

The Minister felicitated nine leading States/UTs based on the ranking for the year 2020-21 for their impressive performance.

Another Northeastern state Nagaland ranked 6 in the larger state category, as per reports.

Meanwhile, Gujarat topped the ranking among the large states with 72 points followed by Kerala with 70 points and Tamil Nadu scoring 64 points.
