Satya Pal Malik has been appointed as the new Governor of Meghalaya replacing Tathagata Roy. Malik was the Governor of Goa before being appointed as Meghalaya Governor.
Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari has been entrusted upon the additional charge of Goa.
Malik was also the governor of Jammu and Kashmir for a period of one year between 2018 and 2019. He was appointed as the Governor of Goa in October 2019.
Malik’s political journey began in 1965 and was first elected to the Rajya Sabha, representing the Lok Dal, in 1980. He was also elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Congress party leader in 1986. Malik later joined the BJP and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2005.
