Meghalaya: to reopen school Partially

The Meghalaya government on Wednesday announced re-opening of schools partially in the state allowing students of Class VI to VIII only for consultation.

Rymbui informed that an order for allowing students of classes IX-X to visit the school for consultation likewise, the same process will be followed for classes VI to VIII.

The schools will re-open following all COVID-19 protocols.

“We have seen some places which is a COVID hotspot, so it is difficult for the government to decide. We want the DSEO to meet

with teachers, parents, to carryout out consultation and submit the report by October 13,” said Rymbui.

Since Meghalaya has over 15,000 schools, the state has decided to entrust the District School Education Officer (DSEO) to consult with teachers

and parents on reopening the schools for classroom teaching and submit a report by October 13.

The government will take a final call on October 14 or 15 regarding the reopening of schools for classroom teaching.

This decision will be effective starting October 15 till further orders.

Rymbui said that a review meeting was held soon after the announcement of the guidelines issued by MHA in this regard.
