Minor girl stabbed to death for rejecting marriage proposal in Gujarat

GUJARAT: A 16-year-old girl in Gujarat was stabbed at least 32 times to death by a 23-year-old man for rejecting his marriage proposal.

The horrific incident took place in Jetalsar village of Jetpur taluka in Gujarat on March 17 when she was in her brother’s residence.

The accused has been identified as Jayesh Sarvaiya.

The victim was a student of class 12.

Jayesh Sarvaiya dragged out the minor out of her house and stabbed 32 times as she refused to accept his marriage proposal.

Her brother also suffered injuries as the accused stabbed him 4 to 5 times when he tried to save her sister.

Sarvaiya has already been arrested by the police, and the victim's father has demanded justice for her daughter and called for strict action against the accused.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president CR Patil yesterday visited the victims family and said the government was committed to punish the guilty in the case.

On the other hand, Congress working president Hardik Patel and National Congress Party (NCP) leader Reshma Patel also met the family members and raised questions over the law and order situation of the state.
