AGARTALA: The Tripura State Jamiat Ulama (Hind), a major Muslim body in Tripura alleged a series of violent attacks on mosques and minority habitations in parts of the state.

It may be mentioned that the violation has come following the recent unrest in Bangladesh’s Noakhali district where an ISKCON temple was allegedly attacked by some miscreants

killing one of the community’s members.

President of the Tripura State Jamiat Ulama Mufti Tayebur Rahman has requested the intervention of state Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Director General of Tripura Police V S Yadav, claiming that miscreants are attempting to break communal tranquility in Tripura and malign the state government.

According to reports, the Jamiat leader said mosques and residential areas inhabited by minorities in six to seven areas across Tripura, particularly Gomati, North Tripura, and West Tripura, are being attacked.

Rahman said that Muslims in remote places are afraid to get out of their houses.

"Few "unruly, sectarian people" are attempting to disturb Tripura's peace and tranquility," he added.

Meanwhile, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya, in response to the incident said that he hopes no one disrupts law and order and that his party's activists, particularly those from the Minority Morcha, are maintaining close ties with everyone across the state to ensure that such unwelcome incidents do not occur.
