Mission 40: BJP core members held meeting in Manipur

IMPHAL: Keeping an eye on the upcoming Manipur Assembly Election, the Bharatiya Janata Party has held a meeting with its core members in the state yesterday, with an aim to secure 40 seats in the 60-member legislative assembly as per sources.

Newly appointed Manipur election in-charge and Union Minister for labour and environment Bhupendra Yadav, and co-in charges MoS Social Justice Pratima Bhowmik and Assam Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal were present in the meeting along with the BJP in charge for Manipur Dr Sambit Patra and Chief Minister Biren Singh.

Apart from that Party State President Sharda Adhikarimayum, Zonal Secretary for North East Ajay Jamwal, MoS External Affairs Raj Kumar Ranjan Singh and other senior leaders have also taken part in the core members meeting.

As per sources, the party has set an ambition of winning 40 seats in the upcoming legislative assembly election next year.

The party also strategised on holding meetings at multiple levels ahead of assembly polls and subcommittees to be formed for the same.

Currently, BJP is the single largest party in the Manipur Legislative Assembly with 24 seats and Congress is being the prime opposition with 16 seats after its eight MLAs had resigned.
