AIZAWL: Mizoram Commerce & Industries Minister Dr R. Lalthangliana today inaugurated Bamboo Processing Factory in Sairang, Mizoram. The Bamboo Processing Factory is set up for making Agarbati stick and it has been set up under National Bamboo Mission.

Later addressing at the inaugural function press conference, Dr R. Lalthangliana said, eventhough Covid-19 has slowed down development works, bamboo is going to play a lead role in the post-COVID economy, and he also said that one of the mizoram's best and biggest raw material is bamboo and the state gooverment is giving more importance for the development and processing for the bamboo. Bamboo reserves in the state will come handy and become tool of economy generation he also added.

Dr. K. Pachhunga, MLA, Bamboo Development Board Vice-Chairman also sepak at the function ans said govt. is planning chu developed and tissue cultured Latiflorus, one of the best bamboo species with the help of Taiwan scientist, he also said success in bamboo business is one of their major goal.

MLA Zothantluanga,Dr. Elizabeth Saipari, Mission Director, National Bamboo Mission were also present and gave a short speech.

The newly inaugurated Bamboo Processing Factory is conatructed under the funding of National Bamboo Mission in 125 lakhs. Is has 5 unit of Round Agarbatti Stick unit, bamboo charcoal & vinegar kiln and bamboo seasoning chamber. The factory is expected to produce 25 tonnes of round agarbatti stick within one month. And an business deal has been already made with India's largest Agarbatti maker N. Ranga Rao & Son.
