AIZAWL: In a tragic death, One of the famous noted Mizo litterateur and Former Indian Diplomat L.KEIVOM (Lalthlamuong Keivom) died todat at a hospital in Delhi due to Cancer. He was 82 years old.

He is former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and was posted in Kenya,Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Burma, Italy and Maldives (1994–97) during his 32 year long career.

Apart from his Diplomat career, he is also a man of literature. He has composed more than 150 songs. He has written a number of essays, articles and seminar papers in English, Hmar and Mizo more than 1200. he is given a nicknamed "Zoram Khawvel Pa" after his masterpiece "Zoram Khawvel" and for his contribution towards the integration of "Zo hnathlak" - descendants of Chin-Kuki-Mizo-Zomi group.

He has translated and published the Holy Bible in modern Hmar (2002–07) and Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali (1973). Moreover, he has also translated more than 50 hymns from Hmar and Mizo into English to cater to the need of the students and research scholars in various theological and secular institutions in India and abroad. He also maintains the Zoramkhawvel website and the Keivom Diary.

He has launched a website in 2009 known as 'zoramkhawvel.com'. This was the first ever professionally designed Mizo e-book of his works by donating Zoram Khawvel-1 and 'Nun Ram', a collection of 5 short stories and 3 essays so that Zo kindred tribes living in different parts of the world can access his writings.

He breathed his last at Max Super Speciality Hospital in Delhi today. He was undergoing treatment for multiple health complications since June, family sources said.

He is survived by four children
