AIZAWL: The Mizoram government has urged the authorities in Assam to allow entry of trucks into the state that have been stranded at the border due to the disputes between the two states

In a letter to his Assam counterpart on Monday, Mizoram Home Secretary Vanlalngaihsaka wrote, "Vehicles bound for Mizoram which have been stranded on NH-306 at Lailapur since 26.07.2021 want to enter...without delay. In this regard, kindly make all arrangements immediately for enabling their entry...without any law and order problem in Assam".

The Mizoram secretary further gave assurance for the safety and security of all the drivers, passengers entering its territory.

Last week, the Assam issued travel advisory urging people of the state to not travel to Mizoram. These advisories have been issued to ensure safety and security, said the state government in a notification. The state government had further urged people of Assam, staying in Mizoram due to work related compulsion to exercise with utmost caution.

According to official sources in Mizoram, no vehicle has entered the state from Assam since the border clash on July 26, despite the neighbouring state's assertion that the 'economic blockade' stages by some groups on NH 306 have been lifted.
