AIZAWL: A picture of R Lalzirliana, Mizoram power and electricity minister, has gone viral on social media recently where Lalzirliana could be seen mopping the hospital floor in a COVID ward.

The 71-year-old Lalzirliana found COVID-19 positive on May 11 and was admitted to Zoram Medical College after undergoing through home isolation for sometime.

He was taken to the hospital when his wife and son had also tested positive for COVID-19.

Lalzirliana has been saying that he has no symptoms of COVID-19 and hence doing fine while staying in the COVID ward.

He then yesterday had taken a mop and started cleaning the floors.

The photo has won many hearts over social media and gone viral instantly.

"Huge respect to the union minister Mr. R Lalzirliana.Sir, You have shown the world & especially to the political fraternity the true meaning of public service & Humanity," a Twitter use wrote.

Lalzirliana is the longest serving MLA-minister of Mizoram as well. Appart from power and electricity, he holds portfolios of arts and culture, land resources, soil and water conservation, and district council and minority affairs in Mizo National Front party chief minister Zoramthanga's cabinet.
